A short note on PM-WANI scheme

To scale up ongoing digitisation drive in India, the Union Goivermnent has launched a scheme named PM-WANI, that is Pradhan Mantri -Wifi Network Interface.

       PM-WANI scheme is considered to be the emulation of what PCO's did in the beginning of twenty first century. Through this scheme government intends to fuel the internet connectivity proliferation across India to almost every house hold. Any small or medium shop owner can have access point to provide internet connection, even a tea owner can have the access point, that eventually lead to more employment options, there is no bureaucracy hurdle or fee to obtain access point. Post pandemic era would not be the same as it was before COVID, In the upcoming days, most of the education will be provided via internet, so more students need to be covered, it will help in telemedicine, where even a rural patient can have online prescription through internet

      No doubt there are many intended benefits of this scheme, yet many challenges are there. As many people will be accessing internet at the same time on the same spot, there is security risk that should be addressed, also many people using internet at the same time, there will be a considerable loss of bandwidth, eventually reduce the internet speed
