What is G20?

  • It is a group of 19 countries and the the European Union(EU), with representatives of International Monetary Fund(IMF) and World Bank
  • The group comprises the mix of advanced and develoing economies, representing about two third of world population, 85% of global gross domestic product, and 80% of  global investment and over 75% of global trade.
  • The G20 summit is formally known as the summit of Financial Markets and the World Economy

G20 countries

  • It is a group of countries established in 1999 by the finance ministers of the G7 countries as an international forum which would help preserve international financial stability.
  • The first G20 summit occured in Berlin, in December 1999, and was hosted by the German and Canadian finance ministers
  • The G20 members are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Republic of Korea, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, The UK, The United States and the European Union(EU)
